What is a Closeout?
A closeout is the sale of items to eliminate inventory and/or reduce back-stock. It may be a closeout of a product that is not selling well, such as a style that is no longer as popular, or is out-of-season. Closeouts sometimes occur as a result of sellers going out of business. In the latter case this form of closeout is usually known as a going-out-of-business sale, and is part of a liquidation of all products still in inventory.
